Recently The Endurance Department joined forces with the awesome guys at The Physio Clinic Bristol, to put Becca through her paces on our Wattbike as part of her ongoing training.
Becca is a DH mountain biker riding for Flow MTB Race Team, and following injury last year is now back on the bike and competing thanks to the rehab work carried out with Matt and the team at The Physio Clinic, along with a new strength and conditioning programme coached by them.
Our aims for the session were multiple, initially to compare performance data from prior to last year's accident and injury, to ascertain what if any impact on key performance markers there had been, while also factoring the incorporation of the new S&C regimen. As a DH rider, explosive power and muscular stamina are key, and these were the primary performance markers we were measuring as well as Becca's ability to deliver equal and consistent force through pedal rotation.
Taking the data from the tests the guys at The Physio Clinic can make any necessary adjustments to Becca's training plan pushing through the season, and we can also dial-in to finally tune the power sub-phase of her training, so that her performance peaks for her A-race later in the season.
